Bridging traditional art and modern motion design

I designed a motion poster for the exhibition “Drawing the Wind: Shin Yun-bok · Jeong Seon,” organized by the Gansong Art Foundation and Brand Architects. The poster merges the paintings of the two artists, with their boundaries fluidly dissolving and reassembling — visually expressing the dialogue between tradition and reinterpretation.

Solution

Bringing traditional paintings to life through motion and abstraction

To align with the exhibition’s concept of merging traditional art with media art, the original works of Shin Yun-bok and Jeong Seon were reinterpreted through simplified, blended forms. By transforming the compositions into a fluid, continuously moving motion poster, the design conveys the idea of historical paintings coming alive — connecting the past and present in a single visual rhythm.

Impact

Reintroducing heritage through modern media

From November 2017 to May 2018, the exhibition attracted over 50,000 visitors, receiving praise for reinterpreting classical painters through media art. The project was recognized for helping popularize cultural heritage by bridging traditional art with contemporary digital expression.
